A traffic collision was reported on Monday, November 2nd in Glendora. California Highway Patrol (CHP) was the first responder at the scene of the accident. The collision happened on 210 Freeway, near Sunflower Avenue, just after 11:30 p.m. A 2015 Toyota Avalon crashed into the backside of a 2004 Freightliner semi-trailer truck. The Toyota was being driven at high speeds. The driver, who was later identified as a 27-year-old man named Steven Manriquez, was fatally wounded. He was thrown out of his vehicle due to the crash’s impact. The driver of the semi-trailer, Cesar Morondo, age 57, was uninjured. CHP is investigating whether Manriquez was driving while intoxicated by drugs or alcohol.

Can You File Wrongful Death Claims Against An Employee?

Generally, if a victim dies of an automobile accident caused by an employee who was performing their duty at the time of the incident, a wrongful death claim should be filed against the employer. Not the employee. This is especially true in California where employers have vicarious liability for the actions an employee does while working for them. If you’d like to know more on how to file a wrongful death claim against an employee’s employer, call us today at (800) 310-1606 to get a free consultation, available 24/7.
