17-Year-Old Dead from Single-Vehicle Accident in Highway 46

A single-vehicle accident was reported to have taken place on Highway 46 in Wasco. Kern County Sheriff Office was one of the first responders at the scene. They received information about the incident at around 10:05 p.m. The driver was identified as a 17-year-old man named Florencio Zamora. He was driving an SUV when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to flip upside down near Main Drain Road. He succumbed to his fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Are Certain Vehicles More Accident-Prone than Others?

Certain vehicles that are known to have defects will most definitely be more dangerous in unsafe situations than others. However, in the United States, when it comes to vehicle types, cars have the highest occupant deaths rates compared to other four-wheeled vehicles, although SUV death rates have been increasing steadily since the 1990s. Interestingly, unlike other four-wheeled vehicles, SUV vehicle death rates tend to be equal whether the vehicle was overturned or not. And research has shown that newer models of SUVs tend to have a greater risk of injury for children than older models, which means that certain vehicle types carry higher inherent risks than others. Whether these risks are communicated to potential customers, however, is an entirely different topic. If you feel that your vehicle defect was the cause of your accident, you should know that you have the right to sue the carmaker for product liability.
