Can Minors Be Held Accountable for Vehicular Accidents?

Usually, it depends on the severity of the accident. Vehicular accidents involving underage drivers that cause harm or death to another person will mean that the driver will be prosecuted. However, although criminal charges may not be filed in accidents where no injuries arise, it doesn’t mean that you can’t file a damages claim against the underage driver following a vehicular accident.

You should know, however, that the claim must be submitted against their parents or guardians – not directly against the underaged driver at fault. If you’d like to know more about the legal process for filing a damage claim against an underaged driver, call us at (800) 310-1606 to get a free consultation, available 24/7.
