Civilian Crashed into A Suspect Vehicle During Police Chase

September 28, 2020 Alan Ahdoot

A police chase on Monday, September 28th, ended with the suspect’s vehicle crashing into a civilian’s car. Los Angeles Police Department received reports of a 16-year-old male stealing a vehicle while someone is still inside a few minutes past 6:00 p.m. While under pursuit, the suspect ended up leaving the vehicle and stealing another car, a black Lexus.

Then, he continued his escape attempt around South Los Angeles and broke numerous traffic laws in the process. He was put to a stop by a civilian who accidentally crashed into the stolen Lexus near Manchester and Wadsworth Avenue. The civilian was later identified as a 22-year-old man named George Diaz. He had minor injuries from the accident. The suspect was arrested when the police apprehended him in the location of the crash.

Can You File Damages Against Authorities in Police Chase-Related Crash?

Yes, you can. However, the best course of action for you would be to file the damages against their agency or the county or city they worked for. This is because law enforcement officers tend to be protected against possible lawsuits even in conditions where property damages or civilian injuries are incurred. Thus, if you were involved in this kind of incident, you need to immediately find a legal counsel if you’d like to take legal action.
