Coroner Declares Crash Injuries as 45-Year-Old Man’s Cause of Death

An autopsy was done on Tuesday, November 2nd, by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office found that the death of a man who was involved in a crash on August 4th, 2020 was caused by injuries sustained from the incident. The man, Rodolfo Cruz, age 45, was the only victim in a single-vehicle crash on August 4th, which happened just past midnight. The accident happened between the crossroads of Long Beach Boulevard and Del Amo Boulevard. Cruz was driving a Jeep Commander when he lost control of his steering and struck a street light. Initial investigation of the crash did not find the driver intoxicated with either drugs or alcohol, which led health personnel at the scene to suspect an emergency medical condition to have triggered the accident.

Why Is It Necessary to Do Post-Mortem Examination of Crash Victims?

Oftentimes, family members tend to decline post-mortem examination of car crash victims for personal reasons. However, this can backfire when they want to pursue a legal claim against the at-fault driver. Post-mortem examination helps establish the severity of the injury of the crash, which may help as evidence when submitting a claim against the driver responsible.
