October 18, 2020 Alan Ahdoot

A two-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV in Torrance ended fatally on Monday, October 12th. Torrance Police Department responded to the scene after receiving reports that an accident occurred near Hawthorne Boulevard and Lomita Boulevard at about 3:20 p.m. The SUV, a Ford Escape, was struck by the motorcycle while it was turning left. The motorcyclist, later identified as a 44-year-old man, died from his fatal injuries. The driver of the Ford Escape, a 56-year-old woman, was uninjured from the crash. An initial investigation found that neither alcohol nor drugs were found to be a factor in the crash. Authorities closed Hawthorne Boulevard for several hours while the investigation was ongoing.

Can You File A Claim Against A Deceased At-Fault Driver?

Yes, you can. If you sustain injuries or damages from an automobile accident where the at-fault driver died from the incident, you can still pursue a claim against their insurance provider or even the beneficiary of their estates. Although this process can take a while, refrain from choosing to use your own auto or medical insurance to cover your expenses since this will result in a lower payout from the parties that you are pursuing claims against.
