Can You Sue Law Enforcement Officials for a Car Accident?

It is possible, but generally, it is advised to file the claim against the local, state, or federal government that employs them. However, this can only be done if the car accident occurs while the officer was working. If the situation is like the one described in the case above, then you should pursue the claim directly against the officer. It is especially important to pursue a case such as this in civil court since it is quite rare for law enforcement to be convicted for car accidents, even in DUI cases.
