Driver Killed After Hospitalization from Two-Vehicle Collision

A two-vehicle collision occurring in Long Beach on Saturday, October 10th, ended fatally after one of the drivers died in the hospital while receiving treatment for their injuries. Long Beach Police Department is the lead investigator for the case. They responded to the incident at around 1:30 a.m. on Pacific Avenue near Sixth Street. A Nissan Maxima driven by one man failed to abide by the traffic lights when it turned red and ended up being T-boned by another vehicle, a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, that was heading east towards Sixth Street. The driver of the Nissan Maxima did not seem to suffer from severe injuries at the time but was nevertheless brought to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the injury was more fatal than the initial on-scene diagnosis, and the 28-year-old man died three days into his hospitalization. The Chevrolet driver was uninjured and is cooperating with the police for the investigation.
