DUI Crash Injured Six and Killed One in PCH

A DUI car crash took place in Long Beach on Tuesday, September 29^th, just after 5:00 p.m. The driver was identified as Mario Medrano, a 31-year-old man from Norwalk. He was speeding on Pacific Coast Highway, near Loynes Drive on a 2015 Nissan Altima. Medrano lost control of his vehicle shortly after and crashed into a 1994 Nissan truck. After crashing into the vehicle, Medrano continued driving south, traveling the opposite direction of the lane and struck a 2010 Toyota Prius. The driver of the Prius lost control of the vehicle and collided with a 2008 Honda Pilot that was heading towards the same direction.

Six people were injured as a result of the incident and required hospitalization for treatment. One person died from the crash. This person is Medrano’s passenger, an unnamed male passenger, aged 30. Medrano is now in jail for manslaughter and DUI charges.
