November 7, 2020 Alan Ahdoot

A hit-and-run suspect decided to turn himself in on Saturday, October 24th, following a crash on Thursday on the same week. The suspect was identified as Oscar Garfias Suarez. He was suspected of striking a 75-year-old man named Guillermo Cartagena with a white pick-up truck in El Sereno when the man was crossing the road from Bullard Avenue near Alhambra Avenue. Video surveillance from the scene found that Suarez left the vehicle but did not attempt to help the victim and fled shortly afterwards. Cartagena is still in critical condition after the crash. Following his surrender, he is arrested for hit-and-run and is now under the custody of the Los Angeles Police Department.
