January 13, 2021 Alan Ahdoot

A hit-and-run crash was reported on Friday, January 8th in Long Beach. Long Beach Police Department is leading an investigation of the crash. The incident happened on Cherry Avenue, near Del Amo NBoulevard at just past 5:30 a.m. A driver riding an unknown vehicle was traveling east on Cherry Avenue when it struck a fence and a female bystander. The vehicle was occupied by a driver and a passenger, who fled the scene on foot following the incident. The female bystander is thought to have been a homeless person who was sleeping on the sidewalk. She was fatally injured from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash may have been caused by the intense fog that surrounded the area of the incident and led to low visibility.
