A vehicular incident was reported in Cypress Park on Friday, January 1st. California Highway Patrol is the lead investigator for the crash. The incident happened on Golden State Freeway, near Pasadena Avenue, just past 11:00 p.m. A male pedestrian suddenly jumped in front of a 2020 Mercedes CLS450 and was struck by the vehicle, which was being driven by a 30-year-old man from Northridge.

He was accompanied by one passenger, a 29-year-old woman from Glendale. The pedestrian, who has yet to be identified, was fatally injured from the crash. The passenger of the Mercedes also sustained some injuries. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Can A Pedestrian Cause A Car Accident?

All road users are expected to adhere to traffic regulations. However, the burden tends to be heavier on drivers. This doesn’t mean that there aren’t situations where the drivers are not the ones at fault for causing a car accident. Sometimes, pedestrians who do not follow the traffic regulations, such as crossing the street improperly or suddenly jumping into traffic, may trigger a car accident. When such situations come about, it isn’t impossible for the occupants of the vehicle to be injured, while the pedestrian themselves escape relatively unscathed.
