A wake was held in East San Jose on Monday, December 7th, 2020 on behalf of a 15-year-old female who died from a car crash on Sunday. The car accident happened around 3:00 a.m. and the victim, Amaris Medina, died when she was hit by a 2013 Honda Accord while trying to cross the road. The incident occurred on Story Road. The Honda Accord driver, an 18-year-old man named Jose Martinez was driving above the imposed speed limits during the accident. The vehicle was also found to be a stolen vehicle. Martinez was carrying three passengers when the accident happened, and all of them are still hospitalized. They were injured when his vehicle struck a tree and a utility pole after striking Medina. Martinez will be facing several charges, including hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
