Several Planes Damaged After DUI Driver Crash

A 54-year-old male driver crashed several parked airplanes on the Reid-Hillview Airport runway after he breached the fence of the airport. Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigator of the case. The incident took place on Monday, November 9th, just before 5:00 p.m., not far from the airport’s main runway. According to authorities, the man was eastbound on Cunningham Avenue, driving an SUV, when he crashed into the airport’s fence. After passing several runways, he later crashed into a parked Piper Comanche airplane, which moved because of the impact, and later damaged two other airplanes. No one but the driver was injured in the crash. The man required hospitalization for his injuries. Authorities suspected him of driving under the influence.
