On Sunday, September 13th, a hit-and-run incident occurred in the South Gate area, at around 12.30 p.m. The victim was later identified as Richard Urzúa, a 54-year-old man. He was struck by a car while crossing the intersection near Indiana Street and Long Beach Boulevard. Urzúa was about to buy food and medicine for his parents, who have recently recovered from COVID-19. As a result of the incident, Urzúa was critically injured and is still unconscious while receiving medical treatment at the hospital. Eyewitnesses pinpointed the car as a black-colored Chrysler 300 with darkened window films. The police are still searching for the suspect.
